UC Davis Presents at 4Cs Conference
Learn how our educators set new standards in writing and rhetoric studies
The 4Cs Conference
The definitions of rhetoric, communication, literacy, and writing are constantly evolving, and the forefront of these discussions is the Conference on College Composition and Communication, or 4Cs. 4Cs is a multi-day national conference dedicated to rhetoric and composition studies research in higher education. Among the UC Davis presenters were 21 Writing Faculty, WRaCS graduate students, and WRaCS alumni.
The Topics Discussed
The Conference on College Composition and Communication is the “world’s largest professional organization for researching and teaching composition, from writing to new media,” dedicated to cross-disciplinary collaboration and sharing knowledge. UC Davis faculty and students represented these core principles by presenting papers and facilitating workshops focused on:
- Theories of collaboration in higher education,
- Methods to improve grading practices, particularly through corpus studies,
- Student perspectives on writing and rhetoric,
- Strategies for more inclusive and accessible communication,
- AI’s effect on writing courses,
- Writing assessment theories and practices,
- Undergraduate source use.
The Impact of these Presentations
By sharing their research, the UC Davis presenters helped foster more inclusive practices in rhetoric and composition studies. Their contributions at the Conference on College Composition and Communication will help others in higher education develop innovative and effective ways to support research and student learning.
